What to expect.

Nancy will give you a brief introduction to the session, the purpose of engaging in them and what science tells us about the benefits of laughter.

Warm Up

The sessions will then begin with a gentle warm-up  and will include some deep breathing exercises. This prepares our diaphragm for some deep belly laughter and creates positive energy.

The core part of the session gets you in touch with your playful side. When we are playful the natural outcome to that is laughter and combined with eye contact that laughter becomes real, contagious, spontaneous belly laughter. All this interspersed with deep, mindful breathing exercises.

The session will end with a brief laughter meditation and either some grounding exercises or guided meditation.

The sessions generally last about 45 – 60 minutes but each session is tailored to meet the needs of the participants so can be longer or shorter as required.

The Laughter Workshops are not a substitute for professional medical advice but are a powerful, natural, complementary form of healing. They are not suitable for everyone and if you have a pre existing medical condition please consult your gp before coming along to a session.

Below is Nancy aka Sunshine And Laughter at Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield as part of their Joy Of Spring well-being campaign.

Many of us are accustomed to looking outside of ourselves for fulfilment whether it be in the material world that we live in or relying on others to give us that fulfilment. We are living in a world that conditions us to believe that outer attainments can give us what we want – that external conditions can provide us with the joy and happiness that we strive for. But joy and laughter are our natural state of being and can all be found within us if we care to switch the light on and look. Laughter teaches us ways to find that joy and inner peace within ourselves – however deep it is buried. It teaches us awareness of re-discovering our own playfulness and inner peace.

It is contraindicated for people suffering from:

Any kind of hernia, heart disease, persistent cough with breathlessness, uncontrolledimages high blood pressure, incontinence of urine, epilepsy, advanced piles, severe backache, or if you have acute symptoms of cough, cold or fever.

If in any doubt please consult your medical practitioner.

Laughter and play are like any other form of exercise. Should you experience any discomfort please consult your gp.
