As well as the Marsden Laughter Yoga group and going out into schools, hospitals and the workplace etc I’m looking at setting up Laughter Yoga workshops for carers, a family session for those with children, prenatal and sessions for those with alzheimers and their carers. Let me know if you are interested in any of these sessions and I’ll keep you informed.
These sessions will bring together carers from around the area.It will enable them to come together in a light hearted setting and have some fun whilst reaping the benefits of the Laughter Yoga.
Laughter Yoga for carers helps to increase blood circulation which increases oxygen levels to the brain. Laughter yoga is a great stress reliever. It boosts the immune system, elevates our mood, energises us and gives us the coping strategies that we need to cope with life’s challenges.
A fun and invigorating session for parents/carers and children. Enabling parents and carers to demonstrate to their children that life can be fun without all the gadgets and stresses of modern society – that the secret to happiness is laughter. The sessions will enhance the family bond through playfulness and laughter as well as bringing with it the health benefits of Laughter and releasing some of that pent up energy and emotion. Parents and children can learn practical methods for using laughter to navigate the challenges and stresses of life. Kids and adults will giggle and laugh together through this Laughter Yoga session. Suitable for children of all ages.
This Laughter Yoga class will be specifically designed for all stages of pregnancy. It will involve laughter exercises with yogic breathing and meditation. It will help you cope with the physical and emotional journey of pregnancy and engage with other mums to be in a fun session. Experience how laughter can help alleviate physical discomfort and fatigue, improve sleep quality, and cultivate a relaxed state of mind. The release of endorphins can provide a sense of well being and decrease pain perception during pregnancy and women who are fit will have a greater release of endorphins during their labour and therefore reduced pain perception in labour. The effects of laughter are amazing including a reduction in blood pressure and cortisol levels. Laughter also encourages the body to produce oxytocin, the same hormones released during labour which relaxes the cervix. You will also be sharing the gift of laughter with your unborn baby and let him/her get to know the best part of you. It may also give you some tools for coping with pain and discomfort in childbirth.
Alzheimers, Dementia and Laughter Yoga
Laughter yoga is a great opportunity for people who have Alzheimers or other kinds of dementia because people don’t have to be able to comprehend a joke’s punchline to laugh. Humour requires the ability to understand subtle concepts and changes in voice tone and inflection but with the onset of these conditions the ability to understand humour can begin to fade. With Laughter Yoga we do not use jokes, comedy or humour but through laughter exercises this will enable those with the condition to laugh and connect with each other again. It will also re-energise both the carers and those with alzheimers or dementia, boost their immune systems and lift their spirits.
