Laughter Yoga (Hasya Yoga) is a powerful well-being activity for the body and mind which also happens to be great fun.

Laughter Yoga explained in short.
Cultivating our own innate sense of joy through unconditional laughter and playfulness.
Result: Improved well-being with physical, psychological and emotional benefits.
Added bonuses! Improved relationships, inspired creativity, improved ease in finding playfulness in our everyday lives.
And here’s a big one – delivers hope.

Think of joyful breathing,  playfulness, the here and now and allowing the natural expression of  joy and connection. Laughter changes our body chemistry and mindset. It’s energising yet relaxing.

Laughter reduces the stress hormone – cortisol and increases production of the beneficial hormones of endorphins, dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin. It can lower blood pressure, relieve pain, boost our immune system, massage internal organs, oxygenise blood and all major organs giving us a great energy boost. It can lift depression, help us to diffuse painful emotions,  bond with others and really lift our mood. When you laugh deeply with someone you create a deep connection with them – a connection that words cannot explain. You laugh heart to heart, soul to soul. You become one, you become family. You don’t need a reason to laugh and you don’t need to be happy to laugh.
Come and give it a try

Laughter Yoga can be done while standing or sitting, and is completely wheelchair friendly.

Sunshine And Laughter offer laughter programs for well-being, health  and happiness in a multitude of organisations and settings that are tailored to the individual group. The value of these sessions and workshops go way beyond just lifting our mood and are profoundly powerful. Laughter can be a real catalyst for change.

Workshops can be run for hospitals and hospices, care homes and dementia centres, substance misuse centres, support groups and community organisations, festivals and events, schools and colleges, workplace training days or team building, conferences, prisons and young offenders institutes – the list is endless. Feel free to contact me for whatever Laughter requirements you have in mind.

Did that make you laugh? That’s because laughter is highly contagious!

Why Laughter Yoga?

“Why Laughter Yoga” I hear you say. Though we may well have spontaneous laughter in the course of our day it is not sufficient enough to bring on the physiological and biochemical changes that are so beneficial to our bodies.

To get the real, scientifically proven benefits of laughter we need to laugh for 10-15 minutes and incorporated with the breathing exercises this increases oxygen levels in our blood, improves blood circulation, helps muscles to relax and can help relieve stress. The release of endorphins caused by the laughter lifts our mood, helps to relieve pain and boosts our immune system.

The relaxed, safe atmosphere of Laughter Yoga sessions allows you to let go of your inhibitions and have a loud, hearty belly laugh.

Of course, following Laughter Yoga, your lifted spirits will have positive effects on those around you too and can also improve your creativity and productivity. What’s not to like about it?

Come along and give it a go!

  1. I really recommend Nancy’s laughter workshops. Our group had a great time. A brilliant way to start a group meeting. We were a mixed group aged 10 – 55. The session just flowed ….could have done more….really cheers you up……we would book her again anytime.

  2. I hadn’t met any of the other participants prior to our session, but Nancy was great at making us feel welcome and at ease. After some of the exercises, our laughter was genuine and contagious. I left feeling simultaneously relaxed and energised. Thank you, Nancy!

    • Hi Lorna.
I have a community session planned in Uppermill in a few weeks and possibly one in Slaithwaite if there’s enough interest. I’ll confirm dates and venues when I have them. The price for my community sessions are usually donation at the door. I look forward to meeting and laughing with you soon.
